Innocent Times

I've always kinda realized that I'm a night owl. However, now is one of those painful times where I'm realizing just how easy it is for my mind to race and remain active. During the day I'm struggling for ideas and forcing myself through writers block. And then of course later on, when I'm supposed to be sleeping, I'm bombarded with all of these fantastic ideas. Prompts for stories, designs for character background, and motivation for giving poetry another shot....
Of course all of this happens when my laptop is shut, and pen n' paper are no where within the immediate vicinity. But what can you do?

There was a solar eclipse today. I kind of got to see it, but there was this one, enormous cloud in the way. Not overcast, not a million spaced out clouds in the sky, just one. And of course, right as the eclipse happened, it was covered up by this stupid cloud. We still had fun though, jumping off and running down the dunes.

One of our friends was gracious enough to record while a bunch of us ran down this (the biggest) dune.

Beforehand, everyone helped make a marvelous dinner: bacon, Belgium waffles (accompanied with homemade berry sauce and whipped cream n' syrup), homemade scones (Lisa made them, and they were utterly fantastic), and sparkling grape/pom. juice in some wine glasses. Simply delicious.

I also realized that I probably drink tea more than any other liquid (including water), by far. I had three huge cups today (peppermint and two honey vanilla chamomile). I'm sure that if I could drink coffee, and had unrestrained tea options, I'd never drink water...or milk. My liquid diet would solely contain tea and coffee. But maybe that's about right for the average human? Who knows.

  • When Roxas says "Got it memorized?"
  • When Mickey mentions Master Aqua....
  • Discretely talking about releasing Ventus....
  • And LEA! Freakin' LEA!

So many freakin' feels....I don' even know what to do with myself.

That whole selling plasma and putting the money into my 3DS fund? Starts Friday. There's no way I'm missin' out on this.

Mystic Moon.

I had a really great day. That's about all there is to declare, at the moment. Spent more money than I should've, but it was worth it.

And as I'm sittin' on Megabed, switchin' between poems and a friends manuscript (as a cool, bonfire smell is driftin' in through the window), I can distinctly hear an owl, piercing through the otherwise soundless night. Every now and again it's interrupted by the slow beating of heavy wings. Wondrous sounds, really.

I've been worryin' about way too much lately; every thing that could rack my thoughts with turmoil, has been. And for whatever reason, hearin' that in the midst of everything goin' on....it had this stupidly effective way of calmin' me down.

Just a cool experience, I guess. I also peeked out a few moments ago, curious and wondering if I could see it (t'was quite loud at that point). I was pleasantly mystified to witness the horned creature perched on the telephone post right outside my window.

Extraordinary.

Vector to the Heavens.

Alright, I have a Latin dance class, aye? It's at 7:45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 'N normally we meet in the Student Union on campus. But on Thursday it was a different case; some program was using our ballroom for a convention for somethin' or another. Needless to say, I was one of the bumrags (about 10 of us) who'd forgotten about meetin' in a different building. So, we all begin walkin' over to the correct buildin' after a certain point, right?

N' trailin' behind me like a goslin' babe, is this little Chinese lass. Now, this ain't the first time it's happened. For whatever reason at me other university, the Chinese exchange students would somehow wind up sittin' next to me in our lectures. Then, they'd deem me as their American friend who'd help them out with understandin' customs and clarify vocabulary, terms, instructions n' such. I guess that translated (hah) over to this university as well.

While walkin', this girl (who still had a painfully Chinese accent) came up n' started askin' about particular things regarding our class. After confirmin' n' clearin' up a few things for her, she asked my name. I told her (my real name) n' she repeated it back with a stereotypical accent, rollin' it around on her tongue and tryin' it out a few times. I asked hers in return, and she promptly n' proudly told me it was "Akikiko." Immediately after, she laughed n' apologized for her name being 'too long' and 'difficult' to say. In turn, I apologized on behalf of my name as well (my real name is uncommon, and fairly long...and has an 'L' in the middle of it. I swear every time she tried pronouncing it she became more n' more embarrassed by her accent.).

So, I suggested nicknames. I asked if she had any, and though she responded with a no, her face lit up when she had the idea of me coming up with one for her. Deciding to simply use a shorter version of her name, I proposed "Kiko" and she loved it. When she returned the question of a nickname back my way, I told her she could make-up one for me as well. N' just to make sure she knew my actual name, she asked me to repeat it to her again. I did so, and she (laced inside n' out with her accent) said it to herself a few times. Then, she 'hmmm'd' ........

"How about Deryn?"

I can't tell you how high my heart soared upon hearing that. Of all the things that could've popped into her head... *sigh* This was truly one of the happier moments in my life. Silly, but whatever.

Fight and Away.

Aye, I'm really bad at this, aren't I? Let's make a bullet-list, then.

  • While taking notes for future reference (to write on here), I realized I could have an entire blog dedicated to the Nonsense Twins. My two roommates and I made it happen.
  • After the semester ended, I flew back to Michigan for the break. (I took three planes!)
    • I got my license renewed.
    • Played some much needed Kingdom Hearts.
    •  Surprised a friend.
    • Made homemade spearmint tea.
    • Realized how much I hate Michigan.
    • After I got through security in the airport, going back to Idaho, I realized I didn't have my phone....so for the first week of school, I went without. (I realized that I really only need it for an alarm clock. I don't really use it for anything else, besides the occasional text. (It was difficult to get ahold of me though; my friends woiuld just show up at my apartment hoping I was there)).
  • Came back to Idaho; came back to my own bedroom.
    • Ladies n' Gents; MEGABED.
    • It's only the start of the third week of the semester, and I've already had two sleepovers. And at one point, there were four people laying out on Megabed. It has its own reputation.
  • Classes include: Cognitive Psychology, American History, Family Foundations, Latin Dance, Ballet, Literary Analysis, and Homer to Tolkien.
    • Cog Psych is only a first block class, so it meets Monday-Thursday, from 5:00pm-6:30pm...have I mentioned that it's kickin' me square in the ass? Hopefully I'll make it through though. Our first exam is on Tuesday...
  • I went shooting for the first time!
    • Leesa and I, and two of our guy friends (Chris n' Kyle) tried going the first time two weeks ago. We went to a second hand store and found a ceramic bust, and a FURBY(!) to use as targets. Upon arriving at the 'sight' though, we found a lot of campers...campers mean kids. Lots of kids means no shooting. So, instead, we settled for walkin' through the woods for a half hour or so. 'N we found a house! At some point it had burned down, so we were walkin on top of the collapsed roof. Pretty cool find, yeah? So we went the next week, after class (last Thursday) and actually got to shoot. And once I figured out how to hold the gun right, I definitely hit the Furby a good couple of times. 'Twas a great way to spend a day.
So, I've kinda decided that I'm going to format this differently. Rather than try and have weekly updates (like I used to do with my blogs) I'm just gonna post stuff whenever it happens. So there might be multiple posts a day. Or, there's always the change of me having a few uneventful days in a row. It's whatever. 'Til then!
